A woman visual artist who creates artwork extraordinarily well is not "a great female artist" - she is a superb visual artist who so happens to be female. By the very fact that her work is superlative we should simply refer to her as a "great artist" since she has as much right to that title and to the status as any male visual artist at the same level. - 2001
