The Cult of Moi & the Rebirth of Neo-Fascism / Le culte du moi et la renaissance du néo-fascisme

In 1976, I began putting down my thoughts on what we were / are doing to our environment, to our lives, to our children's lives, to that of our grandchildren & great-grandchildren... This is the chronological story of my visual reflections - my one day "to be exhibited collection of artworks" depicting the gradual self destructive nature of our species.
The degradation of a collective is a reflection of the rotting away from the inside out of its soul - the heart of which is each of us. When the environment we design as sustenance for our dreams falters; flails about in desperation, unthinkingness, uncaringness, in selfie concern... apathy gives birth to narcissistic cravings, aythoritarian controls and diminished democratic principles. The consequence? The death of dreams.
Life as contentment is not built upon a series of supercilious happy times created by an excessive comfort of non-thinking. For when it is, it soon rots its way into being a self-inflicted viral infection. And when burdened, our increasingly weary environment becomes no longer able to sustain itself. Without mature judgement, honesty, truth and fact we soon lose to those who would rule since a wasteland controlled has no more ability to revive itself, to heal. Life, the world, our enemies... they cannot kill us or our dreams. Only we can accomplish that impossible feat. And when we do, the earth itself will leisurely be on its way to healing... relieved as it will be of a burden no longer poisoning it. |
